Name: Lindy Larkin

Age: 26

Cycling Discipline: Cyclocross

Biography: I started cycling in 2013 where I just began doing local road rides and stuck with that really. My partner David saw there were some local cyclocross races and he had a go and loved it. I like a bit of competition so entered one of the 2015/16 races after a bit of training from David. I loved every minute of it, so much more fun than road racing. Everyone was so welcoming and I liked the mix of skills needed. I entered a few more to see if it wasn’t just exciting the first time.. it was exciting all the time!

Last season (2016/2017) I chose to enter all possible races and try and get as high in the league as I could. I really improved and grew to love it even more. We made great friends with Alex who rode with Sarum Velo and couldn’t wait to join the team.

Best Result: 2nd Senior Women (3rd Overall) (Southampton Sports Centre/Sotonia CC)

Best League Result: 3rd Senior Women (Wessex League)

Other Achievements: Overall 2nd Women in Banjo Cycles Summer Series 2017

Favourite Course: Swindon or Abingdon/Dalton Barracks

2017/2018 Aspirations:

-Try to have as many Top 10 finishes as I can

– Try a few TT’s, including 2-up TT

– Enter Southern Champs again

-Hope to get more people into cyclocross, either riding or spectating.. both are just as fun!

Name: David J Brazier (DJB)

Age: 29

Cycling Discipline: Cyclocross

Biography: Grew up in a cycling family with a Dad who raced Road and a brother who raced Enduro so bikes have always been around. The slightly left field discipline of cyclocross appealed as it wasn’t too serious and maintained a sense of fun. I’ve both geared and singlespeed cross bikes and looking to move towards singlespeed in 2017.

My first ever race was actually the same race as Alex though we didn’t know each other at the time – friendship came once I’d given up trying to be faster than him!

Have tried road racing and time trials but it’s ‘cross all the way for me – the camaraderie and friendships formed are awesome.

I have a strict no Garmin/no Strava training approach, prefer sausage rolls to energy gels and prefer cycling uphill to downhill.

Best Results: 15th Western League – Bradford on Avon

19th Wessex League – Fareham

Favourite course – Mary Hare School Newbury (though it’s not currently in the league) & Fairthorne Manor

2017 Aspirations – Top 25 finishes in the Wessex league. Have fun. Maybe a couple of hill climbs and away from racing a few touring holidays.
